12/1/11 TEETH!!

We have been teaching Kylie how to brush her teeth for quite awhile now, but as time goes on she seems to love it more and more. Recently we have begun brushing teeth a couple times each night. I think she loves the taste of her toothpaste and its a fun activity she likes to do with me. Whenever we go past the bathroom Kylie rushes in pushes her step stool up to the sink and grabs her toothbrush. The next part is kind of gross because she often starts scrubbing the drain of the sink with her brush.... I recently sterilized the sink with bleach because it was grossing me out and I thought that might help. After I dash in to stop her from covering her brush with germs she then asks for toothpaste, but she refuses to start brushing her teeth until I start brushing to. She stands and points at my toothbrush and commands me to brush by saying  "TEETH!" After brushing is over then she gets excited for her fluoride but you have to be careful when you give it to her because she like to play a game. When the fluoride dropper gets close to her mouth she will lunge out and try to bite it as hard as she can. Well got to go. I think Kylie wants to brush again...

Daddy Daycare 11-17-11

Today Amy went on a bus trip to Eau Claire leaving me to watch the girls for the day. I must say that the girls gave me a challenge. I had no idea how adept Kylie is at scaling the counter top to raid her Halloween candy stash. The girls did have some fights over toys today, but they also had a blast playing with each other. They really like chasing each around the legs of our new kitchen table. It is a unique table because it has chairs that form a bench around half of the table with free standing chairs around the other half. It is also counter top height so Kylie can stand underneath it. Vanessa loves going under there too, but often starts screaming when she gets stuck underneath one of the chairs. They were using it as a fort for a good part of the day and it was fun to watch them play. What is not so fun is watching Kylie's other favorite game with the table. If you let her get bored at all at the dinner table she will take her fork and start scratching the finish on the table as hard as she can. This tends to get daddy's attention pretty quick, but after several instances of this I had enough. I demanded that we get a tablecloth to protect our table and we found one that Amy was going to use on the floor underneath the kid's art easel. Amy hates the way its chicken pattern looks on the table, but until we get something better its not going to budge!

Nap time was kind of rough today. Vanessa took a nap but Kylie would have none of it. She screamed bloody murder when I put her in her room and in the end, I collapsed in exhaustion on her bedroom floor long before she did. I guess I am going to have to work on my ability to put Kylie down for a nap. Fortunately for me bedtime went a lot better. She was pretty tired by then and I think we have a good bedtime routine which helps.

Monday Night Football 11/14/11

Tonight the Packers play the Vikings on ESPN which we do not get, however thanks to sports2pc.com we can still watch the game through our computer hooked up to our TV. The drawback is we need to run a power cord across the living room floor up to the TV. This would normally be ok except for Vanessa's intense love of power cords. I am amazed at how determined she was to pull and chew on those cords. After a half hour of constantly picking her up and pulling her away from the cords we constructed wall consisting of our ottoman and a pile of her toys. We thought we had won however she proceeded to climb the mountain of toys desperately trying to reach the beckoning call of the power cords on the other side. She made it halfway and got stuck. The screaming that ensued next made it a little difficult to watch the game. I hope this unhealthy behavior ends soon because several lamps have been pulled over already and the laptop's power cord is starting to get a little frayed.
